NORTH ISLAND POULTRY MEETING.

WHAT THE DECISIONS MEAN. The meeting at Hawera last, week, at which the North Island Poultry Association cancelled the disqualifications of tlio fanciers ivho exhibited at the Manawatu A. and P. show (as already reported in The Dominion'), was presided over by Mr. Goodson, the president. The arrangement which enabled the different socioties to be represented by proxies was a special arrangement made to; save expense, and apparently was appreciated. The societies represented, and their vote, were as follow: — ~ In favour of reinstating the disqualified fanciers Auckland and Suburban,. Mr. ,W. Hmie; Wellington, Mr. W. J. Wliyte;. Hawera, Mr. J. Campbell; Eketahuna, Mr.G. Merrick; Newton, Mr. D. Burrell; Waikato, Mr. A. M. Conroy; Carterton,, Mr. >R. F. Page; Inglewood, Mr. W. Wood. These commanded 11 votes. Against:—Manawatu, Mr. G. Hadler; and Hastings, Mr. C. Clements. One vote each. The I-iawera "Star" reports that "the result of the voting was received with applause. ' _ ' The resolution which was thus carried was moved by Mr. Merrick (for Eketahuna) and seconded'by Mr. Wliyte (for Wellington).;. Efleot of the Decisions. Mr. Goodson thanked the proxies for having attended to vote .as requested by,-.tho various societies they represented. He was pleased that the resolution had been carried by such a big vote, although by its action he expected the Association would _ offend some of the societies affiliated with it, .but they would be few. The majority, he was sure, would endorse tho action of the Association. Rule 10 of the Association's rules had been reinstated, and > it provided .that any A. and P. Association could apply 'for a license to hold a poultry show during any month of tho year. He considered,, that the affairs of tho Association would in future run on smooth lines, and to the benefit and satisfaction of all concerned. The decision is tactful, sportsmanlike, and calculated to win respect.
