OBITUARY.
DR. WILLIAM A. LOGAN. , ; : Mr. J. K. Logan, Superintendent of Electric Lines, received a cable messago yesterday announcing the death in London of his son, Dr. William Archibald Logan, of Wellington. The news, whicli mil 1)0 received with groat regret by a largo number of peoplo in Dunooin as well as in Wellington, camo as a surprise, for tho last lettor received from tho deceased wus to tho effect .that ho was quite well. A cable message was; howover, recoived by Mrs. ' Logan v (decoased's mother) a few days ago. announcing that Dr. Logan was seriously ill. Death followed an operation for, tho removal ;of. layi abscess on tho brain. Dr. Logan's, death ends what promisodto bo a brilliant career. Ho graduated at tho Otago University, and after acting as snrgoon at tho Dunodin Hospital, ho went Home in 1900, and within a wook- after his arrival qualified in tho first section of tho F.R.C.S. degree, which ho succeeded : 'in obtaining in tho minimum time possible. After obtaining a good doal of hospital oxporionco, ho returnod to tho Dominion, : settling in Wollington. He did some locum tenons work, and afterwards commenced jpractico 'on his own account in this city; building up n very good practice Twolvo months ago yesterday ho left for England; with; the object of studying for special work,,and had.made good progress up to tho timo ho ; wns laid asido by sickness. Dr. Begg, assumed docoased's practico in Wollington. ..,„., ; Dr. Logan, who was' only ..thirty-threo years of ago, leaves a wifo (who was with him in London), a Bix-.ycar-old boy, and ah infant daughter.
