During this woek, Mr'.J. A! ; Gilrutb', Chief Government Veterinarian, has inspected ..-tho. sito of tho proposed municipal abattoirs with Mr. \X. H. Morton, the City; Engineer. A; careful examination, was made -of tho proposed, location of'"' the' buildings, in order that thoy might meet tho various requirements as closely as possible. -,--As'-n .cou'sequonce the plans will be slightly' amended in directions indicated by Mr.-Gilnith. It-is not anticipated that these alterations will increase.tho cost of the work; Mr. Morton informed a Dominion reporter that he-expects everything will bo ready to call for tenders by the end of next month. T,n regard to the delay of Mr.. Gilruth in inspecting' the plans and site (a matter on- which some comment has been made), it is pointed out'.tnat tho Chief Veterinarian's official, duties take him to all parts of the .-Dominion 1 and involve long absence's from. Wellington.
