Dairymen, ploughmen, and shearers are also in request. At a social gathering of tho hair-dressers' assistants, •• it • was stated that the Arbitration Court award was unsatisfactory, and that it was advisable that the assistants should-support a proposed scheme of federation, and get legislation passed fixing the closing hour at six o'clock.

HAIRDRESSERS' ASSOCIATION. Auckland, Decombor 12. At a largely attended meeting last night in tho Chamber'of Commerce it was decided to re-form the Master Hairdressers' Association. REGISTRY OFFICE FEES. Dunedin, December 12. A deputation representing registry officeikeepers, waited on the Minister for.Labour yesterday, and complained that the scale of fees recently laid down had caused a serious decline iu business, as employers refused to pay the higher fees, and were themselves advertising -. for servants. The Minister promised to get full information regarding the matter, and would go into the scale again if the information he received justified such a proceeding. He was not, however, going to put heavy charges on the workers, for employees were better able to pay a higher rate.
