A toam of twelve bullocks, near Maitland, while passing over apparently hard ground, fell through, to a depth of four feet, into a fire which was smouldering beneath. Eight of the bullocks were burned to death and threo othors wero severely burned. lhe drivers' feet were scorched in rescuing tho animals.
