The question of tho establishment of a now school at Eastern Hutt was considered by tho Education Board yesterday. The truant officer reported that he had mado a canvass of tho district, and had roportod that there were 315 children in tho' area which would bo sorved by tho now school. Of this number about sixty were under five years of ago; 156 were attending tho Hutt District High School; 32 at Epuni; 29 at the Roman Catholio School; 19 at a private school; 5 at the Wellington Girls' High School, and 2 at tho Terrace School, Wellington. It was ostimated that four rooms would bo required, and tho quostion at issue Was, whothcr the new building should be classed as a separate school, or a side department of tho main school. iY was finally decided to hold over the matter until tho next moeting, and ill tho meantime a sub-committee, consisting of tho Chairman (Mr. Loe), Captain M'Donald, Messrs. Ai H. Vili, and William Allin would go into the whole question and nrepare a report.
