Th'o best'thanks bf tho society were diib to "thoso. gentlemen who had so willingly prepared and delivered lectures. A further effort.would, itwas stated, be mado to raise- funds to- ppvido a permanent library'in connection with tho society.. "" " Tho President, who moved'the adoption of' tho report and balance-sheet,'considered that the society had done tho year, and congratulated- membersM)n. tho succoss attained at the 'examinations;" At tho annual dinner, Professor Salmorid had suggested that arrangements (should;be made whereby members of the-society-could- ivttend the lectures on commercial la^ ; -delivered'at' Victoria College.' Unfortunately, owing to tho fact that Professor Salmond had'' resigned, tho matter had ..boon dropped. It' was, lie said, pleasing to'nbtc that' although tho society had been in''existence'6iily.'.fii'b years,_ twenty-nino members; had passed as Associates and nino as Follows of the.lnstitute. In conclusion, he referred to the invaluable services rondfired' bv'tho'hoii.'secretary (Mr. E. W. Hunt); ' ' The report and balance-sheet-were adopted. The oloction.of officc-bearers resulted as follows President, Mr. D. T.'Stuart; vicepresidents, Messrs, J-. 'S.' Barton, A'. T. Clark, S. C. Leary, C. P.'Powles,'and H. C. Towsley; committoe, Messrs. J. S. Day, H.' A Gtfd, W. C. Harrington, E. W; Hunt,; A. J. Petherick, and C.'B. Robertson | hon.' treasurer, Mr. T. Ballingall; lion, secretary, Mr. J. L. Arcus; lion, auditor, Mr. W. G. Talbot; representatives on joint committee of Students' Union, Messrs. Hunt and Arcus. ' It was resolved, on the piotion of Mr. Pothorick, that' it bo a recommendation to the incoming, committee that in future the secretary be voted an honorarium;
On tho motion of Mr; Hunt, a resolution was carried, amidst (ipplauso. coneratuis.ting tho members of. the society who woro successful at tho recent examinations conducted ljy the Institute, especially Messrs. Hortf aiiil Cummins, who scoured top places. , This concluded tho business.
