For somo days past nothing was heard of Lionol Terry, who escaped from Seacliff Montal Hospital three weeks ago. To-day, however, Detective Hunt, of Dunedin, and Constable'Kidd, of Waikouaiti, camo across him in the back country. As thfty approached him his suspicions became aroused, and ho placod a I barbed wiro fenco between them and himself. Ho admitted his identity, and said ho was awaro thoy woro police officers. On being :invited to accompany them ho said he was not -yet tired of his frco life, and thoroupon walked away. Tho police officers pursued him on foot, but ho ran away all full speed, and sought covor in somo dense bush, whore ho was searched for in vain. In tho courso of tho chaso Dotectivo Hunt fell heavily, sustaining a nnsty gash on tho forehead, and injuring his hand as a result of coming into contact with tjouldors with which tho ground was strewn. Tho polico stato that Torry was wearing boots instead of the sandals in which ho escaped, and that, ho looked ironiarkably fresh and hearty.
