Mr. C. S. Merfield, late president of the Sydnoy branch of the British Astronomical Association, accompanies- the expedition to Flint Island, where ho will join the expedition sent out by tho Lick .Observatory under Professor Campbell, The party probably return to Auckland about' January 17.
