CAR TRAFFIC.

1 . „♦ FOUR-WEEKLY RETURN. INCREASES ALL. ROUND.' : The following return, shows somo. interest ing figures in connection with the municipal tramway system for the four weeks end« November 10 last (nearly a month ago). Tin revenue from all sources has increased fron £716-4 (for the corresponding period of las' year) to £9114, an increaso of £1950, bin alongsido that the working oxpensea hav< mounted up to £6077, as compared ■ wit! £4479 last year, making a net. increaso ii revenue of £352 for the period under con sidoration. It will be seen that the ro venuo from city traffic has increased fron £7089 to £8363, an increase of £1328, o: which now lines (Kilbirnio) account • foi £1141 of tho total increaso. The-revenui from all sources has increased from £716' to £9114, an increase oi £1950. . Tho work ing expenses amounted to £6077; as com pared with £4479 last year, an increase ol £1593. INCREASES IN EXPENDITURE. Power—Fuel, £118 due to increased olit put in units, and repairs and maintenance £64. Traffic—Salaries and wages, superintend ence and clerical £78, due principally to in croased staff in ticket omees. Wages o: motbrmen and conductors £593, due to in creased service. Wages of car cleaners £53 due to greater number of cars > in traffic There has also been an expenditure of £8for sundry traffic equipments—being con ductor's bags, wallets, etc. GeneralSalaries £49, and printing and stationery £162; principally conductor's way bills am running sheets. Repairs and mantenance— Permanent way, £94; overhead equipment mid stables, £121; cars, 328. TRAFFIC RETURNS. Tho total number of passengers carricc on the city lines has increased from 1 1 254,83S to 1,509,677 ,of which new lines (Kilbirnio' account for 188,903 of the total increase The.car miles run on all lines increased fron 133,101 to 157,619, an increase of 24,518. Tie traffic revenue on city lines, per cai mile, averaged this year 13.47 d., as againsi 12.91 d. last year. The working expense! this year were 9.25 d., as compared witi 3.07 d.. las tyear, an increase of 1.17 d.
