A recen ■' conference-of the boards of agriculture o Tasmania resolved unanimously " that'thi conference is of opinion that the Council c Agriculture should procure information re garding. the practicability of establishin Ncir,Zealand hemp in Tasmania." The Hon. H. A." Nichols, who had recent! . visited New/ Zealand, said the scope of th flax industry ,was enormous. Tasmania shoul take part in it. Ho was satisfied that cor siderable areas of land in Tasmania woul grow.the flax just as easily and luxuriant! as New Zealand did. He thought what ha already been grown at Black River shoul , be sent to New Zealand for an opinion. ] Tasmania got the right seed from No' Zealand, he was sure,it would be a succes: The possibilities were enormous.
