ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BODY FOUND AT GISBORNE, (BY TELEGBAPH— TOESS ASSOCIATION.)
Cisborne, December 2. The body of a middle-aged man, well dressed, was found lloating in the surf off Waikanae Beach this morning. It appeared not to have been in the water very long; the arms ; were-' folded, across tlio breast and there was'a wound on the back of the head, from which the blood was floifiiig. In a hip pocket was a Panama hat, and in. the vest a key with sixpence attached to a piece of blue paper, with ■' John Owens, Enfiold Road, Napier," written thoceon. The body, has not been identified locally. It is supposed to be that of a man who must have fallen from the steamer Waikare yesterday, and not boeii missed. Napier,, December 2:' In reference to a telegram from Giaborno stating that tho body .of a middle-aged- man had been found in the surf, there, and that in .the.'pockets was found an address, ' "John vOwens, Ehfield Road, Napier,'/ inquiries have elicited the fact'that.Mr. John Owens is at present in" Napier. It is supposed from the description given that tho body is.that.of a man, David James Young Kirk, in ■■ tho employ, of Nelson Bros., Ltd., Tomoana,-'as slaughterhouse clerk, and who left on transfer to their Gisborne branch on November 25, but Teho has'not put in aji appearance, at tho works there. . ■ FATALITY AT HAWERA. Hawera, December 2. A boy named Hector Morrison, aged eight years, son of a settlor at.Wailii, was caught in tho belting of milking machinery on Saturday, and was so badly injured, several limbs being broken, that he died yesterday..
BOY DROWNED AT DARGAVILLE.
' Dargaville, Decembor 2. A hoy named Edward Mnlhern,, about nine years of ngo, while bathing in 'the Eailui Crook on Sunday afternoon, got out of his depth and, . being unable, to swim, was drowned. His mother, who witnessed the occurrence, made a determined but ineffectual attempt at rescue. Dragging operations, so far, have failed, to recover the body, which is probably entangled in one of the numerous snags with which tho stream is thick. SUDDEN DEATH. ■ Auckland, Dccomber 2. A handcart man ..named' Louis Rudolph Kingston, 63 years of ago, dropped 'dead in Queen Street this afternoon.. Death is supposed to be due to heart disease
