A STORMY PASSAGE.
Magnet's Gleam. Mr. A. Buchanan's valuable. Jersey cow, which died after a Ion" railway journey to New Plymouth, had a troublous and ond. On Arrival afc 'New JMy mouth she was down on the floor of the truck, and tho men who unloaded tho truck lifted her to her feet. She was obviously in a bad way, and, after' recovering from a faint, she was driven slowly to a paddock near tho bacon works. Hero she wns left _to recover while the men returned to liiiish the unloading. When thev again returned to the paddock they .found that Magnet's ijlea::i had apparently been -drinking copiously of tlio water in a stream in tho paddock, and inflammation of the bladder seemed to have resulted. She was in a state of collapse. Various ways of restoring her wore, tried. Olio of the first medicines administered was gin and gintror, and it is said that this was followed" by six bottles nf beer, and some castor oil. Finally tile animal died.
