SENIOR MATCHES. Another series of matches was commenced on Saturday, when the weather was delightful. The matches, Petone v. Gas Company and Old Boys v. Midland were played on the Basin Reserve. PETONE v. GAS COMPANY. . . In their, first innings, Petone compiled 205, the score at tho fall of each wicket being as follows:—One for 5, two for V, three for 67, four for 99, five for 154, six for 173, seven for 183, eight for 189, nino for 198, and ten for 205. Isherwood and Senior put on GO runs for the third wicket, and senior and Brice 55 for the fifth wicket. Brice (54), who was top scorer, was missed before ho had attained double figures, and afterwards gave several chances. His score included one 5, three 4's, six 3's,. four 2's, and eleven singles. The Ncwtown-AVellington" fixture was played on the Athletic Park, tho wicket being fast and giving general.satisfaction, although it woro a good deal towards the closo of the day.
