It was .decided:. "That this Synod rejoices in the continued progress of.the No-liceiise. movement,- and views with unmingled , satisfaction its beneficial results wherever it,hhs been tried. It urge's on the people throughout the district to throw all their energies into this supremely important and desirable reform, to take their share, in tho'work-pro-' paratory to' tho licensing flection, to see that their names are plawd' lippii the -electoral roll, and to urge others with themselves to strike out the top'line." '.'-' ' Another resolution carried had reference to tho anti-gambling crusade, and was as follows: "That this' Synod'expresses , its grateful appreciation of the action of the Government in the restrictions placed, on the' groat gambling evil .by..-.the" passing of the Gaming , Act, while.we'.regret that the State, still supplies -facilities for; gambling by , the licensing of the totalisator and the bookmakers."
