MIRAMAR TRAAIS.
Tho question of the opening date of the tramway lino to Soatoun wns under discussion at last night's meeting of the Miramar Borough Council. Tho Mayor said it had been suggested that the line could be opened on Thursday next, but everything depended upon the weather and the Government inspection of tho lino. It was probablo Hint tho opening would be on Friday or Saturday. He had just l>eeh out over tho line, and thoro seethed to bo n good deal of work to do yot. At tho snmn time, ns far as tho lino wns concerned, it was completed now, and cars could be run through to iScntoun if necessary at any timq. Referring, to tho revision of the time-tablo, tho Mayor said that tho time-tablo, which was now practically arranged, allowed for a forty minutes' service to Miramnr North and Seatoun, and a twenty minutes' eorvico to Miramnr from tho Government Station. Theso services would be tho regular ones, and would hnvo to bo supplemented to a certain extent on busy days such ns Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This mntter, however, could bo safely left in tho capable hands of the traffic malinger. It had been found to bo quite impossible to run a forty minutes' service by bringing tho cars through Lnmbton Quay, and an nrrangeinont wns being mado to bring them by tho shorter route, via .Tervois Quay, which route would mean a twenty minutes' run to Miramar. During subsequent discussion, it was generally agreed Hint tho opening of the Seatoun line would probably tnko place about Friday next.
