There was a record in ontries and for Shorthorns and Ayrshires (cattle),.English.Border Lo.icesters and llomneys (sheep), pigs, and horses. Tho comparative . absence of . machinery oxhibits was complained of by farmers. The. principal winners are:—Cattle.—Shorthorns, ■ champion,,. John Dean's . (Riccarton), Duke of I Kirkstylo; bull, 3 years and over. Dean's. Estate (Ricparton), Duko of Kirkstylo; bull, 2 years John Bean's Summerton's Florist; bull, yearling, George.Anderson. (Wright's Bush), Kirl Douglass ll.;. champion Shorthorn cow, Mitchell, Brothers (Weston), Rowan 11. Ayrshires.—Champion, A. Gillies's Royal George; bull, ' 3 yoars , and over, Gillies's (Hampden), Royal George; two years old, Gillies's.Prince Albert; yearling, Cowan's (Oamaru), Captain; champion cow, Cowan (Oamaru); cow in milk; 4 year, Cowan (Oamaru), Milkmaid. _ The decision as to the champion ram given in Christchurch was reversed hero. The fat. sheep "competition was between • Messrs. , Tough (Milton) and "Watson (Duntropn), honours being pretty even. In-pigs, honours were slightly in favour of Charles Brico, Melroso Farm, Ruddington, who, with Seacliff Mental Hospital, was tho only entrant; ,-.. The entries all round t show an as compared with last year, the ..total being 734, as against 657. The principal increases wero in horses and cattle, the former numbering 337, as against 295 last year, and tho latter 140, as against 117. Tho championships were awarded as follows for sheep:— Border Leicester' — Ram, Mr. , Little' (Ngapara); ewe, Mr. J. Ross. English Leicester —Ram, Mr. Murdoch' (Riversdale); ewo, Mr. Kelland (Timaru). Rpmney Marsh—Ram, Watson Shennan (Conical Hills); ewe, T. Tclford (Balclutha). Lincoln—Ram and ewo, New' Zealand and Australian Land Co. Inbred half-bred — Mr. Ensor (North Canter-bury;-owe, New Zealand and Australian Land Co. Special points prizes were awarded as follow:—Cattlo—Shorthorn, J. Deans, Estato (North- Canterbury); Polled Angus, Murray, Roberts arid Co.; Ayrshire, W. Cowan. Sheep — Border Leicester, T. S. Little (Ngapara); English Leicester, E. Kelland ; Romney Marsh, Watson Shonnah.'
