Major-Genera 1 Sir 11. E. Colville served in Egypt in the eighties, and won many honours. Ho also commanded,the Ninth Division in the I!oi>r war. He has written histories. of the Sudan and the South African'operations, also other works. - ■ ■

Thomas Kcrr, of Grahamstown, has bean re-arrestcd in connection with tlio murder of-the girl Ellen Pinnock.

Sir \V. Lyno, Federal Treasurer, sought to havo the duty on corrugntcd galvanised iron fixed at £3 10s. per ton general duty, but the House reduced it to 30s. with preference of 20s. The duty on plain galvnuisod iron was fixed at 20s. general duty, with 10s. preference. Cream separators wore placed on tho free list.
