It is understood that Captain Lacey will take command of the Taviuni when sho -leaves' oil her cruise to Flint Island with tho' scientific expedition. The' turbifie steamer Maheno arrived at tho Bluff from Melbourno yesterday. She is due to arrive at Wellington on Friday, and leaves the same day for Sydney direct:. Tho Maheno brought an English mail for New Zealand. Tho local agents/of Shaw, Savill and Albion, Ltd., advise that the departure of the Waiwera for London has been altered. The vessel will leave Lyttelton on December 19, not Dhnedin, December 24, as was advertised. Amongst, the cargo shipped at Wellington by the Morayshire for West Coast ports of United Kingdom was 160,000 ft. of white pine timber for Liverpool. It is expected that the Morayshire will sail at daylight on Saturday. Tho Union Company steamer Moura was expected to leave Westport last night for Lyttelton. The Ivini leaves Westport to-morrow for Lyttelton, and the Te Anau will sail from Westport on Friday for the Bluff.
