The number of petit-ions presented to Parliament during the session for tho retention of tho totalisator was 311, containing 30,219 signatures. The number presented for tho abolition of the totalisator was 48, and to which there wero attached 36,471 signatures. ' Tho Labour Bills Committee, to whom was referred tho Workers' Compensation Bill, recommended yesterday that owing to the latenoss of the session, and being tmablo to procure the necessary evidence, tho Bill bo returned to .tho House. Tho recommendation was laid on the t-ablo. During the session, Mr. Hornsby moved that there be laid on tho table of the House— "The document in tho possession of the Justice Department in connection with an agreement entered into by Mr. Meikle to pay £400 'to a person from whom ho borrowccl £30;" Yesterday a copy of tho document was produced. It was a three-months' promissory lioto, in favour of F. W. Oakley for £33, payable on February 8, 1907, and was signed by John J. Meikle. Accompanying tho document was a noto as follows:—"If I am successful with my case I am prepared to let you have'tho sum of £400. Yours, etc., John J. Meikle!"
