Information has been received Jocally that Burns (tbe American boxer who beat Squires a few months ago) is the favourite for tbe championship of the boxing world, to ho decided at the London National Sporting Club on Monday next. The Dominion's representative will be Gunner Moir, of Auckland. A communication has been received by the "Wellington Association from Auckland regarding the possibility of a match being arranged between A. Agault, of that city, and T. Hanley, after the Wellington match betweon Godfrey and Ha'.iloy., Tho reply forwarded was to tho effect that, as the season was practically closed, nothing further could

be arranged at present, but tliore was a possibility ol a match being arranged for some date after the Now Year. Last week T. Hanky received a communication from O'Connor, of Timaru, suggesting that ho (0 Connor) should arrange a contest botween Hanley and W. Elliott (who won the teather-weight championship at the last Australasian tourney, held in this- city), and asking wnat was the lowest purse Hanley was prepared to box for. At the instance of tho secretary of. the Wellington Associa.on (Mr W. Coffey), Mr. Moriarty. acting for Hanloy, replied that O'Connor's host course was to communicate his proposal to tho local (Wellington) Association. In reply to a further communication from Timaru regarding a mooting between Hanley and Elliott, Mr. W. Coffoy wrote that any applications for Hanloy's services must come through a registered Association, as, according to _tho statuto governing the'sport, an Association could, only deal with any such matter through another Association and not through a private individual. In this, caao any suggestion in regard to a meeting between Hanley and Elliott shouldcomo through the I imam Boxing Association.
