Mr. Kidston, tho ox- Premier, called for a J division on .tho motion for adjournment, j which was defeated by 37 to 25. Mr. Kidston then moved tho adjournment; of tho House till Friday. Ho made an attack on tho Government, and said that Mr 1 hilp, in advising tho Governor to grant a dissolution, assumed a grave responsibility. When the people know what had been done they would pay him out with interest. Mr. Philp interjected that he was prepared to take the chances. ■ Mr. Kidston said the chances wero small. Mr. Philp created a sensation by declaring that he would use tho peoplo's money to carry on, whether the peoplo ■ desired it or not. Mr. Kidston hoped that wiser counsels Would prevail. If n battle had to be fought, ho would fight it, because upon it depended the self-governing libortics of the country. . ■Mr. Kidston's motion of adjournment until Friday was carried. • The position is peculiar. Mr. Kidstoli rcsignea the Premiership on Tuesday week, and Mr. Philp, Leader of the Opposition, was sent for, ami undertook to form a Cabinet.
