'.. . November 18. The Tourist. Office reports that the Milford Sound track is.in excellent order as the result of tho. mild winter. -A larger overland traffic than usual is expected this summer. A lot of work has been diverted from Otago to other harbdurs owing to the non-com-pletion of the Port Chalmers dock on tho specified dato (February. 1). Since that date 14 large steamers, which would probably have been docked here if the new dock had been finished,', have gono to other ports for accommodation. Teachers ,, Superannuation. •■ ■ ~Tho of..th'o-.'Jocal: Teachers' Institute has received the following telegram from Sir.Joseph Ward:—"ln reply to your telegram, it is not. possible to consider an amendment in the Teachers' Superannuation Act this session. To attempt to do so upon th? Public Service Superannuation Bill would prevent the,passing, of the measure this session, and I think you will agree with'- mo that this would be very unfair to the employees of the Civil Service. Tho representations made,"ih'owevcr, will be very carefully gono into during tho recess." Teachers are not asking that the Teachers' Superannuation Act slioyld be amended, but simply that a clause should bo inserted in the Public Service Bill; giving them the right to tako a vote on the question of amalgamation.
