(FROM OUB SPECUIi COEKESFONDENT.)', Hawera, November 49. There is a largo influx of visitors for- the show, and accommodation is severely, taxed. There are entries from all along tho coast. Judging from tho abundance of feed, ■•the stock will be all well shown. Manawatut'is represented by a few breeders, principally , in shenp, exhibitors including Mr. A. "R. Lancaster with a mixed team of 40. The-weather promises to be fine. Tho committee have all arrangements well in hand, and everything points to a record show. The fixture during the past few years has grown considerably. Good accommodation is provided for stock; The entries are in advance of previous shbwaj. particularly in sheep (160 increase). There: is a slight falling off in cattle and horses, but it is anticipated the quality will to previous years' standard.- Implements, with tho exception of a'fowMocal exhibitors, will bo absent. Groater attention has been; paid to the home industries -class, and it la pleasing to note that the juveniles are taking keen interest in this department. The'competitions have filled well, especially 'hunters. In 1908 tho entries in horses wore'2l9, caftlo 225, sheep 399, pigs 45. This year tho entrios are;— Horses 340, cattlo 223,-sheep 355, pigs 34. Tho aggregate total of the whole entries, including dairy ■pEqdUQfi.-and,,,dogS| ; iß about 1200.- Tho Society--hae about-.650; members on tho roll. . -: ■. ,'-'■■ .:•■-. ;-■■ * The show has bfccn established twenty Jour, years. Tho initials stage saw ft. miniature , ' show held on small 'grounds. 'V""Sub6eqneiitljr' certain members ' purchased the .present, ground at a reasonable figure, and .law they sold out to tho Association at .the-original price. The capital value to-day i 5"£6700.. As ; tho area is fifty-two, aores, and' the : Hawera borough is rated on" the unimproved varae, tho rates amount to about 80s. por ,aore, which is a heavy burden'for the Association The prize-list to-day amounts to £1100, and in this are comprised some valuable trophies. It is stated that the draught horse exhibition is unequalled in the Dominion.. ..
