"TRADES UNIONS , SEDAN.'
RAILWAYS TROUBLE. BT TELEGEAPH—MESS ASSOCIATION—COFYKrGHT. (Rec. Nov.' 15, 9.56 p.m.) London, November 15. The weekly liewsparo " Labour Leader' , describes tho railway settlement as " the Sedan of tho British trade union movement. Not only is it. tho virtual betrayal of the railwaymen's agitation,' but it erects forniidablo walls against the possibility' of any future ' all grades' movemont." Tho " Railway Review," tho organ of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, says that the President of the Board of: Trade (Mr.-. Lloyd-George) must bear tho credit, or the discredit, of tho eettlekent; With the railway men it was largely Hobson's choice. Tho settlement provides for each group or section of the railway employees having its own conciliation board. -T?he Amalgamated Society desired to bo recognised as negotiating for tho whole,. that is, for all grades. It is, roughly, collective dealing versns dealing with groups, the Society being,on tho side of the former. The' employers prefer to deal with their detail.' ■ . i ■
