It will, doubtless be remembered (says the Dunstan "Times") tbat some 12 months u«a an apparently owrie'rlessido r g- was shepherding a solitary sheep on the main road netr Chatto Creok for some considerable time. It appears that the dog has continued his selfimposed' taskV:eveF since, '.taking his (a merino'ewe) .through Several of the runs ia the locality. A few weeks ago one of Mr. Jopp's shepherds tried to make one of his dog 3 get the sfaopr away 'from its erstwhile owner. Tho was true to his charge, however, and resented the interference, . attacking the intruder fiercely. The ewe was subsequently caught by one of the Monltere employees, and is supposed to be one sold from that three or four years ago, as it bears their earmark. The is still at.tlarfje in the vicinity, having boen seen on Mr. Allen's property last week, and still takes a 'h'fiiid at working the sheep on his Qwp account. Though not suspected of doing any mischief among the flocks, his wandering propensities will doubtless lead to Ms careor being abruptly terminated by some of the station-holders.
