CADET CAMPS.

DEPARTMENTAL ASSISTANCE OFFERED! It is still apparently a debatable matter whether the holding of annual camps is a good feature in the training of Volunteers. In the case of school cadets it is generally conceded that the camp-training undergone by tne State . school cadets at Oliristchurch during the year 190&-7 was really helpful to tho boys, and there is already more than talk of holding battalion camps (''.lring the summer motiths. The Education Department-has been soundod in regard to tho length it is prepared to go in assisting these camps, and the following circular has been received by tho ebcretiiry of tho : Wellington Education Board: —••■'■ "On the following, terms tho Department is prepared to grant assistance in tho holding of local battalion camps:— (a) Train fares for' a distance not oxceoding .20 miles. (b) Allowance of 3s. Gd. per head for seven •"■ days' camp.' ' (c) Camp equipment as far aa possible. (d) Damago to camp equipment to bo made good by tho battalion using it.
