Mr. Barber lias , given notice to ask the Minister for Lands whether his attention has been drawn to the proposed action of tlie Wellington Fen-y Company, • who intend orecting. a . sawmilling plant in tho Day's Bay . bush for tho purposo of cutting timber in ■the locality; and as this bush is largely used by holiday-makers and is so easy of access to the residents of Wellington, will hp take steps to prevent the proposed destruction, and securo for tho benefit of the people the uso of this charming and attractive beauty-spot? Notice to introduce tho following now bills was giv.en in the House of Representatives last evening Chinese Immigrants Amendment Bill (Hon. Sir J. 6. Ward), Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act Amendment Bill (Hon. Sir J. G. Ward), Co-operativo Dairv Companies Bill (Hon. R. M'Nab). Tho Prime Minister, in reply to a question by a Dominion representative, said tho present financial situation in England will hay« no effect on tho New Zealand Loan. Ho was happy to say that tho arrangement* which had been made would placo the loan boyond tho reach of any such adverso influences. Mr. James Gow, who is at presont in Wellington, .will probably contest, the Bay of Plenty seat at the next election in tfic Opposition interest.
