The exhibits of stook at the bhow are much fewer than last.vear. the very trying weather and the high price ot cereal foods tor extra feeding havo'caused a reduction-of entries ,to an extent of 789. The bulk of. - the judging took ,-. place during the day, and tho competitions > were held in the afternoon. All of the sheep ..= ■•■• classes were well filled. There was a magni- -, ficent exhibition- of English Loicesters, ■ Messrs.' R. and J. lleid and Mr. E./Kellaud capturing the honours in .the two principal ram classes. There was also a gratifying ; display of Border Leicestors, included among _■ which were a number, of fine,rams-recently-■-. imported from Scotland. - There was a rather ~-, better show of Lincolus than usual, this, breed ~ ; having lately come into the .'greatest, favour.- ; ... Messrs'. Bealey Bros., the'noted Roroney . i breeders, were strongly .represented' by..j ■' liotablo. specimens of tho variety. Thero was ~. . a good show of Southdowns, while- Shrop- . shires were .unusually 1 conspicuous.. jThe Uyer : > land breed was exhibited .-for tho -\uisi iirne' in considerable numbers. This - variety; is ....'■ likely to find considerable vogue among, fat ...-; lamb-breodors. . Corriedales (the Now .land-made breed of sheep produced bv;a"com-.. V 'lunation of longwool and merino) wero largely represented. Sir George Clifford showed a very /fine lot. of first cross Lincoln morinos. Fat sheep were much "hotter than usual, having come on remarkably well .since shearing. Merinos in most sections were also ; very good.
