SUNDAY SCHOOL-ANNIVERSARIES
<■ WEBB STREET PRIMITIVE METHODIST CUURCII. The anniversary tea-meeting ami concert in connection with the Primitive Methodist Sunday School, Webb Street, was held'on 'Wediies'-' day evening. Tea was dispensed to a large gathering by the lady teachers. A feature of tho arrangements was the elegant floral decorations on the tables provided by the Young Women's Class' and the Young "Men's Class. Tho annual meeting was then held in the church building,' and was very largely attended. The report of tho Secretary (Mr. Ernest Dawson) showed that the Sunday School, in all its branches, was in a highly "satisfactory and efficient'state,, there being 233 name,< on tlio roll. - Tho .report and balariecvsboet for the past year (presented by_.tuc.Trfiaß.ursr, Mr. Enoch Newman) showedi that 'the receipts amounted to JCI9S Bs. fid., and the expenditure to .£92 19s. 9d., leaving a balance in hand of £2 Bs. 9d. During the evening addresses were, delivered-by the Revs. C. E. Ward, and J. Cocker. A.welcome was extended to the Row .Tames' Flanagan (from' England), who afterwards delivered an- address on the development of the child-mind, and the influence of the teacher upon (lie mental ami moral growth of tho child. Songs wore, contributed by Mrs. Gunthorpe, Mr. P. Cutfnrfli.' and a quartette by Misses Coltman (soprano) and Flanaein (contralto), and McssrJj."Cutfo'rtli (tenor) and Thompson (baritone). Recitations were given by Miss Essie " Petlierick, Master Prity, Snelliug, and Master Arno-Jenkins, and festival music by the choir, assisted by the orchestra'. Miss Olive Anderson presided at the piano, Mrs. Ttulloek at the organ, and Mr. Ernest Dawson, conducted the singing. Tho Chairman, was the Hon. C. M. Luke. M.L.C., and Mr. George Petlierick was Vice-Chairman. PETONE BAPTIST CHURCH. The fifth anniversary of the Petoue Baptist Sunday' School was held at Petone on Wednesday night. The report was read,, and showed that the finances of tho .school were in a satisfactory state, there being a credit ba'lancty'o'f about".£3 Ss. in hand: Hymns were sung by the children, under tho directorship of Mr. K, C. Shearer, Miss Shearer presiding at the organ. Apologies for inability to attend were received from the Rev. .T. J. North and Mr. C. Godber, President bf'thepVelliiigfoii'Suiida'v Schools. Prizes wero distributed to tho-child-ren by the Rev. Spottiswoode, who,'with the Row C. R. Ewen, assisted tho proceedings during tho evening.
