TRAMWAY ACCIDENTS.

Sir,—The continual numbor 'of accidents which are daily occurring to. the citizens and vehicles onglit to be'a heavy tax on tho causers of same, and 1 consider our City Engineer should cause tho base alongside of cars.to be enclosed by a strong smooth surface; and a similar arrangement at ends as are used in other places, whereby if it comes in contact with im 01/jsct it lifts samp and forms a- hollow, for its safety and without injury. Let any persoii.only notice the basements of our cars; they are an open network of hooks all round. Another reason, in my opinion, is that, although accidents are so frequently .occurring, ami some of a fatal nature, not one single driver has been punished;. While the people neglect municipal matters we must expect insult and injury.— I am,-'etc., CHAS. SIMMONDS. Wellinrton, November 1.
