NOTES AND COMMENTS.
(By Glencok.)
H. Telford received a very nasty fall when Sen Sim jerked him out of the saddle. He was picked up unconscious, and did not. recover lor some tinxj. • The hdrso completed the course, and iinished in front of the other horses.
Faro was liaeked. for a bit of money, but after running • well for a mile and a half he tired greatly. The gallop should improve him. •. , .
Leeside does not run two races alike. ' 'f ho gallop Full Kate bad in the Stewards' Handicap must have benefited ■ hiui, as lie won very easily yesterday.
Contender was a bit flukey, and Kaironia would be better suited by a longer course.
Ballarat has lost her pace. .She began very smartly in the Criterion Handicap, but could not go with the leaders.
Oxton was mado the public selection in the Epsom Handicap, but. though he, got out early, ho could not keen his position, and only finished about sixth.
Moriarty won the Epsom Handicap very handily. Ho was ridden by D. Price, who baa recently ret-uniodfrom Sydney.
Petrovria is coming on, and may win before' the meeting closes.
Swimming Belt was slightly sore, and took some time to warm up to his work, but at the end was galloping on.
Gold Ciest unseated W. Young before the start of tbo Derby, and galloped up the course. He was recaptured at Cutts's, and started with his field. Ho ran in front all the way, and his rider was unable to bold him..
Elevation Iqoked a picture, and had evidently dono well since Saturday. Ho was ridden a nice patient race, and his win was greeted with vociferous cheers.
Gleneulloch was very unlucky to lose nis rider at tho lialf-milo post. Ho was putting in a groat run, and, beihg ; only a length behind tho winner, he may have engaged the attention of tho judge-. -It-is stated that a photographer was installed in tho centre of tbo courso, and Glcneulloeh shied at his machine, and lost his rider. . . .
In the Derby tho times were: quarter-mile, 28sec.: half-mils, 53Jsec:; six furlongs, Imin.' 19sec.; one mile, Imin. 44 4-ssec.; one and a half miles, 2min. 36 2-Jsec-. ' .
Armlet pot all the worst of the start in the Juvenile Plate', but she won very' easily.
Messrs. Gibbons and Bidwill entertained -x\\c members of tho Press after the races of . their horses. . .
What.a good horse Master Delaval is, and as game as a jiebblo; It w.iis a grand finish, and the bandicappor was applauded on all sides.
Elevation will start in the Canterbury Cup, but Master Delaval should provide an interesting set-to ■ with him. '
, Armistice ran badly in tho . Metropolitan Handicap, and the Cup was evidently too much for her.
Ana put up a good race with Master Dαlaval, and was onJy just beaten. . ■
