FIRES.
An outbreak of fire; at a two-story carpenter's shop, in Little Bullor' Street called tho Fire Brigade.out at 1.10 p.ui. yesterday. Tho Brigade confined tho outbreak to tho upstairs portion of the building, which waa full of shavings and dry timber. The upper lloor and contents woro damaged by firo, and tho contents of. tho ground floor wore damaged by' water.' Tho total damage is estimated at about £25. The building is owned, by Mr. T. C. Majtby, of Dunedin, and occupied by Mr. David Paisley. There was an insurance ; bf £1,00 on : the-building 1 in the Atlas Company, and a policy for £50 on thecontents in. tho Commercial Union. Th* Brigade wa.s also called out at 3.28 p.m. to g chimney on firo at tho premises of Mr, Thos. Johnston, in Upper Taranaki Street.
Stratforc!, November 4. A six-roomed house in Began Street, owned by F. Smyth Pollock, and occupied by S. T. Evatt, was destroyed by firo early this morning. Tho occupants barely escaped, and nothing was saved. Tho building was insured for £300 in the State office, and the furniture for £150 in the United-
