EE-AItRESTED IN FRANCE. 81 TELEOEAPH —PKESS ASSOCIATION— COITItIOIIT. ' Paris, November 3. Veltheim—who shot Woolf, Joel in 1898, and who was recently arrested on a chargo of blackmailing Solly Joel, and subsequently roloased—has been.ro-arrcstod in Paris at tlio instance of the British Government.
After shooting Woolf Joel for refusing him mtmey to ""remove" President Kvuger, Veltheim attempted suicide, but was seized before he could carry out Ins. purpose. He was brought to trial, aud aftor eight days wur acquitted by the jury. The judge criticised tho vadict strongly. Vcltheini. was immediately arrested again on the charge of blackmail. lie was expelled from the Transvaal in August, and went to Delagoa Bay, where he received -through tho post an infernal machine, by which ho was seriously injured. Ho returned again to the Transvaal in December of the eamo year, and was again expelled. It is said that he attributed his expulsion from- tho Transvaal to Solly/locl (Woolf Joel's brother), whom he is now' charged with blackmailing. The recent relate of Veltheim arose from the finding of the'. French court that there was iusufficient ev.uonco to justify his extradition.
