PIGEON-FLYING.
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society flew a race recently last from Auckland, an air-line measurement of 308 miles. Twelve lofts were represented by 33 birds, which were liberated by Mr. W. Ellis at. 5 a.m., the winning bird being timed in at 1.50 p.m. The race resulted as follows:—A. Clark's Stronghold, 1021. yards per minute, 1; E J. Sapsford's Blue Hen, No. 31, 1019 yards 2 ; C. Haynos's Blue Chq. Hen, No. 201, 100S yards, 2; W. Bailey's Psycho, 1001 yards, 4; W. -Vlilrrs's C'utterbuck, 999 yards, 5; F Williams's Blythemaid, 998 yards, 6; J. H. Ci>n;s .S'liigod, U95 yards, 7. On Wednesday last a race was flown from HunterviUe (1(W miles). There were 17 birds representing eight lofts. Tho following are tho results:—A. Clark's Daystar, 1290 yards per minute, 1; J. Elliott's No. Jl, * 1258 yards, 2; J. H. Clark's Jlistlo, 1251 yards, 3; W. Bailey's Twilight, 12-16 yards,''-1; C. Haynes's Whiskers, 1245 yards, 5; W. Ahicrs's No. 43, 1240 yards, 6.
