It will bo remembered that the Liiurn was despatched from Sydney on .lanuarv 1(1 for Kaipara, with a cargo of bricks and rails, and shortly after leaving she encountered Iμ 1 weather, aiid was so badly damaged that Captain Gergluml, who was then in command, decided to return to Sydney for repairs. The damage sustained was so extensive her owners thought it. advisable to dispose of her. Messrs. I K. D. Pike, and Company, of Sydney, purchased her, and have hail the necessary repail's effected, with the result that the Laura s practically a new vessel. Ross, C.8.) reports that a Danish steamship company has been started within the past fewweeks io run ii service between, l.openliagen and Euenos Ayres. The vessels, which arc to lie from 20011 to 3000 tons register, are intended lor cargo onljv They will sail at intervals of fiom five to six weeks. Mr. Ross also reports that an Austro-American company has been formed in Trieste to run steamers from that port to •Monte Video anu Buenos Ayres, via Naples and Las Palmas. The voyage from Naples is expected to take 20 days. The company already possesses a fleet of 32 steamers, while four of 12,000 tons are. under order. The service will be begun with twin-screw steamers capable of making 1-1 knots an hour. with, a capacity of 45 saloon, 70 second, and 1500 thirdclass passengers.
