Sir, —Up to the present'some, seventy or oighty ladies havo expressed their willingness to -take up. street collections; next Satunliiy on'behalf of the' St. John Ambulance Association, but to malic the. arrangements thoroughly complete tho services ;.of.twice this number aro required;! Seeing 'that the object , is for the purposo of providing funds to purchase more appliances for., minimising pain in accidents, and also to extend the work of nursing tho sick ;poor, there should be no hesitation on the part of ladies who are prominent citizens to act as collectors. On different occasions iiotajilo women- in other parts of the Empire have cheerfiily responded to invitations made by the authorities of St. John to collect funds from the public, and' among those who some time ago took similar action in London wore the Marchioness of Twecddale, the Countess ;of Yarborough, Lady Victoria Grenfell, Vi-i, countess Maitland, and Lady Pen'ott. Hero, in Wellington, the wife of our Chief Magis-, trato is associated with the Ambulance Saturday movement, and tho Committee'invite, another hundred ladies to co-operate with Mrs. Hislop in the direction indicated.; The secretary.
