Widdop, Isaacs and Morton were present, at a meeting of tho Council M .no 'Now Zealand-Amateur Rowing Association held iii the Star Boating Club's boat-house last" evening./ Mr. M'Villy was appointed chairman and Mr. Isaacs deputy-chairman Tor the ensuing twelve months; The Otago Rowing Association wrote asking the_ Council to''take into'consideration the question of : the".'hardship placed on clubs by tho new 'customs"tariff, which enacts that boats imported into" tho Dominion shall be dutiable | to tho extent of 20 pqr cent., whereas they liavo'always been free in the past. Tho particular hardship in this regard occurs where . : clubs had ordered boats to be built outside Now Zealand before the 'tariff camp into operation. 'A sub-committee, consisting of tho chairman (Mr. M'Villy) and thosccro.tary (Mr. Bay field, were appointed .to enquire, into the. matter... , ..•..': The' Canterbury Association wrote on tha matter of tlib voting power of Associations. A rule was passed at the last meeting of tho Association restricting .tho, votes;,-for,. eacu Association to five, and tho Canterbury, Association assumed that that being the case' ■the maximum subscription would be, fixed in the case of .each district-Association. It was decided to inform the Canterbury body, that a special meeting of. the .New-Zealand Association would be called to consider the question.. . . . . ........-, -.V. Permission was granted; for maiden, races f:o bo rowed iii stump outriggers at tho Lyttelton Kogatta on New Year's D?.y. A member of .the Council would attend the' rogatta to see if it is not possible to have maiden races rowed in, Association, boats.
