Despite unfavourable circumstances, the solf-donial month, just concluded by the Salvation Army in" Now Zealand'has-again achieved a record success, 'i'lio amount collected in the two islands was £10,824 9s. 3d., as against'£lo,3S3 in 1900. The North Island has contributed £5730 10s., as against £5500 for the .preceding year, and tho South Island £5093 19s. 3d.,-, as .against: £4818. Notwithstanding- Y.M.C.A. and other campaigns, there lias been.lan increased cont-rK button from each of , the four- cities except Wellington. • Wellington city has given £655 as against £715 last year; Auckland £415, as against £318; Christeliurch £635, as against £500; and ■Duiietliil £555, as against £377 ,10s.. .The.results,'pf, the special week of self--'dc'nial among members of the Army itself are included in the'.-totals, but cannot yet be obtained separately, except that the soldiers, of tho Wellington' City Corps aro knownto have given'over £100.
