SHORTAGE OF SEAMEN.
[BY TELECRAI'II.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] . Auckland, October 26. Tho " Star " states that there is a shortage of seamen in Auckland at tho present time, and that it is stated that this is also the case in other parts of the Dominion, and in Australia. The barqucntiuc Solwyu Craig, which was towed to the Thames' on 'Wednesday' hist to load timber for Australia,' was unable to complete her crew list at Auckland, and a number of temporary handii had to bo taken as far as Tiirua, where tho requisite number of seamen will probably bo obtained by the time the vessel is ready for sea. The barquo Onyx has been delayed bore for a week for lack of her complement of officers and orcw. The chief officer is coming up from Duucdin to join the vessel, which is also drawing on Sydney for a, second officer. Her crow list is not by any menus complete, ami it will probably bo some timo before she v/il lbo able to tako her departure. The auxiliary schooner Countess of Karifurly and the barque Casablanca are in much the same lix;
