NOTES. ■According to the Belgian "Moniteur des Interests, Matoriela," tho world's subscriptions to new securities last year .amounted to about ,£700,000,000. The total new securities issued reached a much larger sum, but a good proportion represented conversions of pre-existing capital, and was not an addition to the world's 'investments. , '

Exports of tin. from-tlie Malay States—tho great tin producers of the. world-continue Rlnwlv to recede. In tho first half of this tr the returns show DIB.nCI pikoels (20,157 tons) shipped, as compared with 402,03* pikeels in the first half of last year, and in ■1900 there was a slight.decline, as compared with 1005.
