RIFLE SHOOTING.
KARORI RIFLE CLUB. On Saturday afternoon, the usual competitions we'e s set aside, and thd members indulged in; .practice. Ranges taken were 200, 500,' and GflO yards. The day "was fine, with a slight' left wind, varying from two'to three degrees at 200' yards, and to eight degrees at GOO. The shooting at the first two ranges was very good, but at the GOO yards range most of the marksmen were in trouble, due, no doubt, to a 'shadow which crept across the target and the unsteady breeze. "Outers" were the order of. the day here.. Rifleman Standidge \s score 0f.32 at this/ range* was. a splendid effort, and won for him second place. This rifleman is in particularly good form this year, and on present- showing should bo well up in the aggregates. Highest range scores were made by Riflemen G. Halliday (34) and AV. Kemp (33) at 200 yards; AV. Harris (33), H. Marshall (31), at 500 yards; F. Standidge (32) and G. Halliday (31) at GOO yards.' Following are the scores:—
