An Auckland contemporary, reporting on 'a concert given by Mr. Swallow in the Northorn City, says:—"The principal features of tho concert were Mr. Swallow's pianoforte solos. In his playing, tho intellectual ami emotional elomciits arc so ovonly balanced that neither prepondoratcs. Ho is highly intellectunl, but without' any tendency to coldness; ho is also highly emotional, but without sacrificing in any ilegrco the mental and spiritual basis f;f his stylo. Ilis tcchniquo is beyond all criticism, and his (ouch, tonu, nntl interpretation havn all the finasso of tho belles-lettres." Mr. J. 11. Clark, tho talented elocutionist, has consented to Rive an elocutionary recital in tho'Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, on October 20, in aid of that deserving object, th(i,l3oys'_ Institute.
