A painful sensation has boon caused in every section in Pretoria owing, to an act of desecration committed at tho grave of the lato President Kruger. Tho bust was wrenched from.its baso, and lay a yard distant. Incidentally, tho tomhstono of the lato President's grandchild, in , the samo plot, was slightly damaged. A statuette of an angel at itho head of the grave was overturned. It is believed that tho persons who committed tho desecration wero attempting to steal tho bust, their idea being to await tho offer of a reward for its recovery. Tho bust, however, proved to bo heavier .than was anticipated. • , . SAVED FROM AUCTION. London, October 18. 'A soldier who took part in tho South African war obtained tho late President Erugor's great seal of the South African Republic from , a Boer who was about to bury it. [ ' ;....... The seal was to have been., offered at auction hero to-day, but tho. Colonial Office lias taken possession of it, claiming that, as a result of the annexation of tho Republic, the soal; is Crown property.
