SEAMEN'S UNION v. HARBOUR , ; FERRIES, LTD. The disputo between tho Wellington Branch of tho Federated Seamen's Union of Now Zealand of Workers and the Wellington Harbour Forries, Ltd., has been referred to tho Board of Conciliation, which will meet on October 29 at 10.30 a.m. to consider the rnattor. ■■■ PROPOSED NEW AGREEMENT. Tho toxt of tho new agreemont desired by the Union is as follows:— Hours of labour and overtimo. —Tho hours of labour shall bo eight per day, botweon tho hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with ono hour for breakfast botween 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.,; and ono hour for dinner between 12 noon and 2 p.m., but tho employers shall havo the right to call on any fireman or deck hand to work for ono hour moro on any day (Sunday excepted) at ordinary rates. Any time worked beyond nine, hours on any one day shall be paid for at time and a half rates, with a minimum of half an hour. All time worked on Sundays, Christmas Day, and Good Friday to bo paid for at double rates. Wages.—The minimum rates shall bo as follows —viz., firemen £2 15s per week. 'Where two dcck hands arc carried, both shall be paid not less than £2 10s per week; Where three are carried, two shall be paid not less than £2 10s per week, and tho third not less than £2. Wages and overtime shall be paid in full weekly on Saturdays, and tho woek. shall end on Friday. Towing.—All ferry steamers liable to be called on for towing purposes shall .provide food, etc., for their crows. Six hours shall bo 1 the .limit beyond which men shall not, be worked without a meal. When it is known that a tow will extend beyond six consecutive hours two firemen shall be carried, and they shall work watch and watch of six hours. Holidays.—Eight days' consecutive holidays on fnll' pay shall be given to each man ovcry.'yoar. Any employee remaining loss than one'yenr with his employer shall receivo double rates for all holidays worked up to the time of jeaving his employment. When ■running excursions on holidays or Sundays a steamer shall carry dock hands sufficient to lower, a boat in case of emorgency. When any-man- is-required to attend on duty on any public holiday, and, having attended, is told that'lie is not required to work, he shall receivo not less than 2s 6d for such attendance. When deck hands aro required to trim bunkers their wages shall be mado up to Is 3d per hour.for tho time so employed.
