The debate was carried on . briskly for. a couple, of hours, and when tho ■ time for rising drew near progress was re- ' ported, and the dobato was adjourned. : ■ Tho, Houso of-Representatives spent the afternoon discussing tho replies of Ministers to questions. In the ovening the land de- ' bate was agaip carried on, and after interesting clauses in the. Lands, for Scttlomont porV tion of. tho Bill, had .been dealt with and variously amended, the Houso adjourned shortly >after midnight , at , the portals of Clause 66. This important clause, which deals with tho question, of valuation of lands taken compulsorily, will form the snbject of the next dobato.
