Gates, tho American steel and railwag magnate, who is also a noted racecourse plunger, and known as "Bet-a-Million Gates," lias sold his racing stables in America, and will lease - a large country establishment in England, lip intends to establish training headquarters at Newmarket. His great ambition' is to follow Mr Croker's example and win the Derby. Mr Gates says ho believes ho will bo allowed ' to bet a million in England whenever he likes without suffering tho interference of meddling: race club stewards. -■
