SCHOOL JOURNAL CRITICISED.

Timaru, October 8. At to-day's meeting of tho Education Board, the School Journal came under discussion. Inspector Bell found fault with the Journal as being scrappy and insufficient in -continuous information on any ono subject. He recommended the Board to try it for one year for history and geography on condition that the teachers supplemented it by oral instruction. The Board adopted tho suggestion. It was said that the Journal would havo to be greatly improved before it would save parents the oxpense of buying separate books.
