Mr. R. W. Richards, Town Clerk and City Engineer of Dunedin, who is at present on a visit to Sydney for tho purpose of floating a £250,000 loan for his Council, was entertained by tho Lord- Mayor at the Town Hall la3t evening, sa>-3 tho Sydney "Telegraph" of October 3). Alderman Hughes, .'n proposing the health of Mr. Richards, referred to tho rapid progress being made by thoir old colleaguo, who was also a former officer of the Council; and said that, measured in pounds, it represented an increase in two years from £GOO to £1000. Alderman John Harris added that Mr. Richards had boon the youngest city surveyor Sydney had ever had, having been appointed to that position at tho ago of twentythreo years. Mr. Richards, in reply, said ho had donu his best to advertiso Sydney and Now South Wales in. New Zealand.
