Arig of the materials much better.than die' amateur; The wash has •a , very soothing and '.healing "effect on the •most, sensitive skins, and is J made in the ! /following way:—Take -twolve' : of- spermaceti," "three-quarter drachms of white soap "powder, the same' quantity.'.of.. powdered white wax, ■almond oil, and . 26z; ; of!.!.rectified spirits, half: a pint of distilled water, (three! drops 'of' otto of, roses, ;oil of neroli five drops, and essence of jasrriine half a drachm; last of all, ,3oz. of Jordan almonds. Blanch, the . almonds, and 'beat'therii to a smooth paste, adding some wator gradually to form.a thin cream; melt . tho wax, 1 .. spermaceti) and ■ almond-oil. together, and to this',add tho soap, previously' rubbed down with -|oz.' 'of water. Then .add, in''small quantities, tho re--mainder of the. water, stirring all tho time; after, this is done, the strained almond cream,! and finally the spirits and • perfumes;'; A little of the wash should be rubbed into the skin two or three times a !day,- especially after being in the yrmd or sun. . - , Perfect cleanliness .'is essential to a .good'complexion. No lotions or Washes-should ho used until the face, has been washed in warm water, with; soap, if there is the slightest chance of clnst or dirt being left on the skin. Many people.object-to the use of soap, and yet -hosts of women ■■ with -lovely "complexions'-'.rise only tho. very best household soap,' at leftst once a day, when taking their morning bath. Ofcourse there!, are' sonsitivo skins that -resent tho use of soap, and they are hetter/for being rubbed with a little, cold cream, on cotton woolj and. afterwards ' •'■ washed with oatmeal-water, made by pouring : a pint ,of boiling water over a dessertspoonful of fine oatmeal, .tied in -'a piece; of muslin.The water should be allowed to bo-. come: lukewarm, beforo being applied tcthe skin. .'.' ■'■"Those', who are .out in the dust and wind cannot be : tbo careful about their eyes. If this is done regularly, it becomes a brilliant boautifier to them.
